Chapter 10 Despise The Adams
Maggie was momentarily taken aback, quickly withdrawing her hand and saying, “Oh… Thank you for helping me,” she added.
She looked at him and spoke sofily.
Nathael’s dark eyes stared at her for a long time. After a while, his thin lips parted slightly as he said, “You’re overthinking”
His words left Maggie momentarily speechless,
“Are you feeling better now?” Maggie couldn’t help but ask.
But she didn’t pay attention to Nathael’s response as her attention was drawn to Ericko, who was not far behind him. Ericko was wearing a silver–grey suit and was now walking towards Vanessa, comforting her softly
“Don’t worry. I’ll take you to apologize to Mr. Harris later. Remember, do not make up stories about others again.”
Vanessa breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing that Ericko didn’t blame her but comforted her.
She pretended to be obedient and nodded, her fingernails broken in her palm. “Ericko, do you think Mr. Harris will forgive me!
Ericko didn’t answer directly but said softly, “Don’t worry about his attitude. Just focus on doing what you should do.
Vanessa wanted to say something else, but Ericko’s phone suddenly rang. He nodded to Vanessa and then walked towards the balcony on the venue’s second floor.
Secing Ericko alone, Maggie couldn’t care about Nathael in front of her. She withdrew her gaze and said hurriedly, “I’m glad you’re okay. I have something urgent to attend to, so… excuse me.
As soon as she finished speaking, Maggie chased after Ericko.
Ericko was a crucial part of Vanessa’s impersonation of her identity and becoming a member of the Adams.
If she approached Ericko rashly, it would only arouse suspicion. So, she had to make him suspicious on his Watching her figure pass by, Nathael’s fingertips twitched slightly, subconsciously wanting to keep her, but in the end, he just turned around and watched her leave, doing nothing.
The air was filled with her faint fragrance. Joseph’s figure passed through the crowd in the direction where she disappeared.
Seeing this, a touch of self–morkery flashed in Nathack’s eyes.
So it was because Joseph showed up. No wonder she was so anxious.
He withdrew his gaze, suppressed the irritation in his heart, turned, and walked outside the banquet halli

He lit a cigarette and placed it in his mouth, his eyes becoming gloomy.
She asked. “Are you feeling better?”
But she didn’t hear him answer, “No.”
When Maggie arrived on the second floor, she saw Ericko holding a glass of wine and whispering something to a middle–aged man.
Maggie raised her eyebrows. Perfect timing.
She didn’t hesitate any longer and hurried towards him as if there was something urgent.
A few seconds later, Maggie and Ericko bumped into each other. The glass of wine in Ericko’s hand instantly spilled on both of them, and Maggie’s handbag fell to the ground, breaking the lock.
I’m sorry.
“Are you okay?”
Two voices sounded simultaneously. Ericko instinctively reached out to steady her just as Maggie looked up and met his gaze.
Looking at the beautiful face in front of him, Ericko was momentarily stunned, feeling strange and indescribable. It was very peculiar, somewhat exciting, and seemed particularly pleasing.
Tm sorry, sir, Maggie spoke again, pulling Ericko back from his thoughts.
“It’s okay.” Ericko said while bending down to pick up Maggie’s handbag that had fallen to the ground.
To match her black dress, Maggie had chosen a shiny silver–white handbag as an accessory. Now, the lock of the handbag was half–open, revealing a jade pendant with a magpie landing on a branch, lipstick, and a mobile phone.
Ericko was momentarily stunned. His gaze fell on the jade pendant in the bag, and then he looked at Maggie. “There’s a jade pendant inside.”
Maggie nodded and took out the jade pendant, examining it closely. “My mother left this to me, she said.
Ericko couldn’t help but frown. The jade pendant was radiant and delicate, bearing a striking resemblance to the one that belonged to Nana.
Maggie put away her belongings and looked at Ericko. “Your clothes…” she began.
He was dressed in a clean and tidy silver–grey suit, exuding elegance and grace. He appeared to be a dignified gentleman, but there was also a hint of aloofness that made it difficult to approach him.
At that moment, Ericko noticed that red wine had spilled on the front of his suit, leaving a noticeable stain.
“Anthony, please prepare a set of clothes for me and this lady,” Ericko said calmly, making a decision on the spot. He noticed that Maggie’s dress was also stained with red wine, Thank you,” Maggie said gratefully.
Maggie followed Ericko to the guest rooms and leisurely changed her clothes.
The dress Anthony brought was a black gown, similar to her previous one but with an additional shoulder sleeve design. The V–neck extended outward, connecting to two sleeve pieces.
After changing. Maggie opened the door and saw Ericko waiting outside.
Seeing that the clothes fit well. Ericko warmly said, “I apologize for staining your dress. If it’s convenient, you can leave your contact information. I will have it cleaned and returned to you.”
Maggie felt a sense of daze as she looked at Ericko in from of her.
Was this man really her brother?
He was elegant, gentle, meticulous, and polite.
But in her previous life, she never made an effort to understand him. Instead, she had plotted against him multiple times. Along with Nathael’s compromise, she had pushed Ericko to become cold–hearted.
Whenever she thought about her previous life, Maggie felt a sharp pain in her heart.
In her previous life, the Adams were destroyed, with only Ericko barely surviving, demanding that she pay for her blood debt.
Furthermore, Nathael’s insistence on protecting her led to a fallout between the two, and the once elegant son of the Adams caused a bloodbath in Aquapolis.
Maggie was unaware of what happened afterward. All she knew was that Ericko, who had always sought revenge for the Adams, paid her a visit and then disappeared.
At that time, she didn’t understand and assumed he was there to taunt her.
Now, upon reflection, she realized that he probably knew her true identity back then..
“Miss?” Ericko’s clear gaze fixed upon Maggie, filled with curiosity.
“What is your surname, sir?” Maggie regained her composure and asked directly.
Ericko warmly replied, “My name is Ericko Adam.”
In the next moment, Maggie’s expression changed, her eyes filled with disgust and hatred as she bluntly said, “Are you from the Adams?”
Ericko keenly observed her transformation, squinting his eyes. However, he had an intuitive sense that her disgust and hatred were not entirely genuine. “Do you know me?” he asked.
Maggie locked her gaze onto him, her lips slightly parted, and slowly uttered, “I despise the Adams.”
Perhaps he didn’t anticipate her bluntness, so Ericko asked again, “Do you hold a grudge against the Adams?”
This was exactly what Maggie had been waiting for. She promptly retorted, “My biological mother used to be a servant in the Adams household, but Mr. Adam killed her. Don’t you think I should hate him?”

Ronald had carefully crafted a backstory for her, a story of seeking vengeance against the Adams. Though imperfect, its complexity would make it difficult for anyone to thoroughly investigate.
